FQS Online Workshops

Welcome to FQS's on-line workshop on understanding ISO/IEC 17011.   Here's what it's about and how to use it.

1:  Class objectives

The objectives are:

  • Be able to describe the main features of the Standard
  • Be able to describe how these assist ABs to operate effective accreditation programs.

Please note that this is NOT a training for ISO/IEC 17011 evaluators; it is training for ISO/IEC 17025 assessors to broaden their awareness of the impact of ISO/IEC 17011 on what they do.

2:  Copyright undertaking

Authorized copy of ISO/IEC 17011:2004.   We required that you signed an undertaking to confirm that you have an authorized copy of the Standard before you were given the access information.  The undertaking also covers the course content (so, for example, you cannot get round the 17011 copyright issue by copying from the course content - even if you had the time and technical ability to rip the images from the podcast!).  If you do not have access to an authorized copy you can purchase one online from ansi.org.

The other reading material is available free by downloading from the ilac.org website.

3.  Workshop structure

The main content consists of three podcasts consisting of audio and video.  The A-V is, essentially, a record of me talking you through the clauses of 17011, boring but …

The material was split into three parts to create breaks and to make access easier.  The breaks are at about one third and two thirds of the way through, and the parts are unimaginatively labeled as parts 1, 2 and 3!

Each is accessed through a hyperlink:

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

You can either click on the link and view from your browser, or “right click” (literally for a PC, Command + click for a Mac) to download.  The video format is .m4v and there are several viewing option depending on your computer and personal expertise and preferences.  The easiest is to download using iTunes (if you do not have it on your computer, it is available free from here) which means you can either watch on your computer or copy to a video-enabled mobile device.   If you don't have and don't want iTunes you can delete it after completing the workshop.

The test, which you must complete with a score of 80% or more for the “Successfully Completed” certificate, is available on request by emailing Kasia or me - it is an honor system, and you are trusted not to use the test in advance as a road map through the class material.  It is, however, open book and back-tracking / reviewing is fine.

4.  Timelines

This is an asynchronous workshop.  You can complete it working at your own pace.

5. How much?

A nominal fee of $100 will be charged.

6.  Questions

If you have questions, please contact FQS office at (813) 443-0517 or email Kasia at kk@forquality.org.
